Where Else Shall We Go?
A question posed to Jesus by his disciples in ancient Bible MYTHOLOGY (ha ha). Apparently he was asking if they would be his true disciples and follow his teachings, way of life, etc. and this was their reply. I think this illustrates a major need of humans that is played on by nearly every religion. People have to have somewhere to GO. Somewhere to go every Sunday, somewhere to go when they have no direction, something to believe in...hope for. And so many religions convince them that this is the ONLY way and there's no where else to go to get that personal fulfullment. Like there's something WRONG with you if you can find fulfillment within yourself and your surroundings. And it doesn't just apply to religion. People go to other people to tell them what to do. They can't make their damn mind up on their own and rely on others to tell them what job to take, where to go to college, who to marry, WHAT TO BELIEVE, what to think. I did that for so many years. I was involved in a cult. And it took me 26 years to realize that I had been brainwashed into thinking that this was the only way to live or believe in order to get some type of happiness and most of all, salvation. And now I'm looking at my life in a whole new light. I can be something without it...I can be happy and successful without being in it. And I'm still technically "in" according to their standards...haven't been kicked out yet but they're sure as hell working on it! So I decided to use this phrase as my blogspot for people to think about what they believe in and how much thinking they do on their own. Where else shall we go? Let's go within ourselves and think about what we believe is important and what we want to do with our life. And realize that we don't have to "go" anywhere or "follow" anything that doesn't inspire us, reward us, and allow us to be who we really are.

See, now this is fucking brilliant! Who says you're not clever?? I love this question. Because it's so true. And your thoughts on in are so very very good.

Wow, I really loved that. I'm familiar with the story, though not as a JW. I'm a recovering Baptist personally, but that's certainly not the cult that the JW's are. I had no idea about some of this crazy shit!

I recently recovered from being under the authoritarian rule of my mother, who told me how to think, what to believe, etc. for years. Yeah, it's an eye-opening experience, isn't it? I compare it to Neo waking up for the first time.
The difficult part now will be in deciding what way you go. There are many paths, but ultimately, there's only one reality. Anything that contradicts that reality can't really be true because then it violates the rule of non-contradiction, which means it can't be true. Unfortunately, many people like to capitalize on that fact and twist it around to conform to their own sense of reality. The problem is that they fail the test of logic and they come up with unreasonable answers to reasonable questions. So, in order to continue to control whoever it is they're controlling, they have to teach them to not think.
Welcome to thinking on your own. Now if you'd get off the drugs, maybe you could truly be an independent person.

Get off the drugs? Hell you act like I'm a recovering heroin addict or something! I didn't know smoking a little weed now and that classified me as a druggie!

Dear King of the Cats aka Pharoah Fluffy,
Perhaps you should know a little bit more about a person before you start giving them life advice. Just a thought, there. For someone who is always questioning the assumptions, or whatever, perhaps you should question whether someone can do drugs and be independent. You're assuming she's a junkie. Kind of a big leap, doncha think?

Turn your comments to "moderate". Then you don't have to put up with jerks posting comments on your site.

What is it with people always ASSuming things? Whatever happened to asking questions and THEN forming your advice/opinion on that?
Then again, as the hubby says... opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and some stink worse than others. :)
This is of course directed at Ole Fluffy there. I did read on their blog though and I quote "It seems as though often times I am misinterpreted, and thus find my foot in my mouth. I wonder if perhaps it is the other way as well, or if my communication skills are the ones at fault."
Would you like salt with that foot, dear? And yes, your communication skills need a vast amount of improvement. Work on that and get back to us okay?

I wouldn't get worked up by a comment made by a 22 yo student. A male 22 yo at that. Tell him to come back and comment when he grows hair down there.

I'm just glad I've gotten my drugs down to a reasonable number. I've got a good handle on the weed, alcohol, cigarettes and coffee so that they all work perfectly in tandem to keep me at that perfect angle. It's like I make my own prescription.
I tried to get through a bit of Fluffy on his page and I just couldn't wrap my brain around the fact that I was reading the philosophical ramblings of a 22 year old.
Can god microwave a burrito so hot that he can't eat it?

[There is life after the cult!]
The central CORE doctrine of the Watchtower, the reason they came into existence was to proclaim Jesus Christ second coming in 1914.They will now deny that they ever made this claim, that's called BAIT AND SWITCH
The Watchtower is BIG money, being one of the top 40 New York City Corporations making nearly one billion dollars a year. That’s just from one of their many corporations. They pay no municipal taxes on their buildings, without even one charity to compensate the community.
Most Church's don't pay taxes either, but most mainstream churches are abundant in humanitarian charities.Think if you have ever seen a Jehovah Witness food pantry or soup kitchen for the needy?
For 50 plus years the masthead of the Watchtower, viewed when you opened up to the inside front cover would read as follows:
"This magazine(Watchtower) builds up confidence in the Creators PROMISE of a peaceful and secure "new world" before the generation "that witnessed" the EVENTS OF 1914 passes away"".
By their own admission the Watchtowers has published this dogma in hundreds of millions of pieces of their own literature.
They deleted this false adventist millerite derived prophecy in 1995 because it had FAILED.
The Watchtower leadership has "purged" hundreds of thousands of followers over the years for failing to uphold the 1914 (Jesus came to power) loyalty oath to this now defunct dogma.
The Bible clearly warns to turn away from false prophets.
--------
Jehovah's Witnesses and "persecution".
UNLIKE in the case of Christians who are persecuted in other lands for talking about Jesus Christ, Jehovah’s Witnesses are largely persecuted for following the teachings begun during the second presidency of the Watchtower, when Joseph F. Rutherford took over in a corporate flap and began changing doctrines quickly in the Watchtower belief system.
He claimed that angels directly conveyed “truth” to some of those in leadership. He coined the name “Jehovah’s Witnesses” to make them stand out from being witnesses of Jesus, a typical evangelical _expression (and a Biblical one).
Rutherford dumped holidays, birthdays and the 1874 date for the invisible return on Christ, and INVENTED an “earthly class” of Witnesses, since only 144,000 can go to heaven in their teaching. The rest, meaning all 99.9% of Witnesses still alive, will live forever on a cleansed earth, under the rule of the Watchtower leaders in heaven, who will keep them in line by local elders known as “Princes.”
If you have been “witnessed to” by Jehovah’s Witnesses and you reject their message, you will likely die “shortly” at Armageddon with all the other non-Witnesses, since theirs is the ONLY TRUE religion, and (if they can live up to all the rules) they are the only ones to inhabit this “new earth.”
To even vocally question the teachings of the Watchtower will result in complete cutting off, with family and friends usually being forbidden to talk to them.
The Watchtower is a truly Orwellian world, in a time when Orwellian societies are nearly obsolete.
Witnesses are shrinking in number in many Western countries,as the INTERNET facilitates the spread of information, much of it critical of the Witnesses.
The Watchtower strives hard to control the flow of information to the individual Witness, and prefers that all instruction come through the magazines they carry door-to-door. Without this form of control, even as they themselves admit, they would believe just the same as other Bible believers.

To those of you who have addressed me, I have a couple of things to say.
Yes, habitually doing any illegal substanc, classifies you as a druggie.
Secondly, I'm not "assuming" anything here. On her profile she states that she enjoys doing these types of things. That is a strong indication of addiction.
Thirdly, it is impossible to be independent and on drugs, as drugs contain mind-altering chemicals, thus controlling your mind. What controls your mind will control your actions and while it may not issue as much control on some people as it does on others, it does issue some control.
Fourthly, I am married and have a family, so I assure you that I have "hair down there", bridgetj.
Fifthly, none of you know my actual "age", as 22 could have just been the age I put on my blog. Wow, you people ASSume juast as much as others.

OK, dude. I suppose that every person taking prescribed medications is "dependent" as well, since those are drugs, classified as legal or not. Marijuana is legal in some instances. Since most people are on some form of pill for cholesterol or high blood pressure or what not, I guess they're all just mindless drones as well. Do some more thinking, before you come and try to defend yourself.
Jumping on somebody's blog and giving them advice when you don't have complete information about the person is pretty stupid. Putting that you're 22 on your own blog when you're not is also stupid. What, do you have age issues or something?
I find it silly that someone can smoke pot and be a druggie, but a Grandma with 9 prescriptions isn't because she's "legal". And you don't know anything about addiction, if your evidence is just "regular user". Alcohol is regularly used all the time and people aren't addicted. Go back to doing your thing. You don't know much about her thing.

I've always said if Jehovah's Witnesses don't have the truth, nothing is the truth. Thanks for confirming my suspicion. You have obviously chosen that nothing is the truth.
